Juventus have identified John Stones as one of their priority targets to strengthen the defence, but the Italian club face a major obstacle in the race for the experienced England international.

According to reports from Italy, the 32-year-old centre-back is among the names Juventus would like to bring to Turin after his appearance for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Bianconeri have already reinforced their back line this summer by signing Zeki Çelik from Roma, but the club's sporting department continues to search for another proven defender.

Stones is viewed as an ideal candidate thanks to his vast experience at the highest level after spending the past nine years with Manchester City.

The biggest problem is money.

Juventus are reportedly unwilling to offer a salary higher than €6 million per season as they continue to monitor their wage bill and avoid further financial strain.

After years as one of Manchester City's key defenders, Stones is accustomed to significantly higher earnings, making negotiations difficult from the outset.

Stones began his professional career at Barnsley before joining Everton in 2013. Three years later, he completed a move to Manchester City, where he established himself as one of England's leading defenders and won numerous domestic and international honours.
