Jorginho has officially announced his departure from Arsenal after two seasons, with Brazilian giants Flamengo expected to be his next destination.
Jorginho has brought his time at Arsenal to an end after two seasons in North London. The experienced midfielder, who also played for Chelsea and Napoli, confirmed his exit with an emotional farewell message posted on social media.
The 32-year-old Italian international made 79 appearances and scored two goals for the Gunners but leaves without a major trophy. In contrast, his stints at Chelsea and Napoli were more fruitful, as was his international career — having won the Euro 2020 with Italy and earning 57 caps since his debut in 2016.
“Thank you and goodbye,” Jorginho wrote on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt video montage of his time at Arsenal. The club came close but ultimately fell short in their title push this season and are now preparing for several summer changes.
Flamengo, currently second in Brazil's top flight, are reportedly in advanced talks to sign the Italo-Brazilian midfielder. If completed, it would mark a return to South America for Jorginho, who was born in Brazil before launching his European career.
Arsenal are expected to make key adjustments to their squad ahead of next season, as Mikel Arteta looks to build on back-to-back title challenges.
