José Mourinho has officially begun his second spell as Real Madrid head coach, getting to work at the club's Valdebebas training complex ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
Although the players are not due to report back until Monday, the Portuguese manager has already spent his first days in Madrid planning the 2026/27 campaign alongside his coaching staff.
Mourinho also shared a photo from his first day back at the club on social media, accompanied by a simple message:
"¡Vamos!"
The post officially marked the beginning of a new era as Mourinho looks to guide Real Madrid back to the top of Spanish and European football following a season without major silverware.
Players return on Monday
Real Madrid will officially begin pre-season on Monday, when players who did not participate in the World Cup report to Valdebebas.
The squad will first undergo medical examinations before taking part in Mourinho's first training sessions.
Among the first players expected back are Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono, Trent Alexander-Arnold and several other first-team players. Those still involved in the World Cup will join the squad after the tournament concludes.
New coaching staff unveiled
Real Madrid have also confirmed Mourinho's coaching team for the new season.
Former Real Madrid midfielder and Germany World Cup winner Sami Khedira joins as one of Mourinho's assistant coaches alongside João Tralhão and Pedro Machado.
Antonio Días will oversee physical conditioning, while Nuno Santos has been appointed as the club's new goalkeeping coach.
Khedira's appointment has attracted particular attention. The former midfielder played under Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and now returns to the Santiago Bernabéu in a coaching role, becoming one of the Portuguese manager's closest collaborators as a new chapter begins.
