Alessandro Costacurta delivered a brutal assessment of Jonathan David after Juventus beat Parma 2-0, claiming the Canadian striker is currently giving his team almost nothing.

Jonathan David came under heavy criticism despite Juventus securing a 2-0 victory over Parma in the second round of Serie A. Former AC Milan and Italy defender Alessandro Costacurta was particularly ruthless in his assessment of the Canadian striker.
Speaking in the Sky studio after the match, Costacurta claimed Juventus effectively play with a man fewer whenever David is on the pitch.
"When David plays, Juventus plays with ten men. It is difficult to play with one less player," Costacurta said.
‘He's not giving anything at all’
Costacurta acknowledged that David is working hard and trying to follow Luciano Spalletti's instructions, but believes effort alone is not enough.
"I'm sorry because Spalletti is right when he says he's trying. But he's not giving anything at all. Alajbegović may be shy, as you say, but I think he's at least a little better," the former Milan defender added.
Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi agreed with the criticism, offering a simple verdict on David: "He's in trouble."
Juventus themselves struggled to break down Parma, who handed 19-year-old Slovenian defender Dominik Drobnič his first Serie A start. Parma kept the hosts scoreless throughout the first half before Juventus finally broke through in the 63rd minute and added a second goal late on to secure a 2-0 victory.
David joined Juventus as a free agent after leaving Lille last summer with an outstanding record of 101 goals in 232 appearances for the French club. His time in Turin has been considerably more difficult, however, with only eight goals in 47 appearances.
Juventus have collected another three points, but Costacurta's verdict could hardly have been clearer: David needs to offer much more if he wants to remain a regular part of Spalletti's starting eleven.
