After a disappointing spell at Juventus, Belgian striker Lois Openda will try to revive his career in France after completing a season-long loan move to Lyon.

Lois Openda arrived at Juventus with a big reputation and an even bigger price tag. After just one disappointing season, the Belgian striker is already on the move.
The 26-year-old has completed a season-long loan to Lyon, where he will attempt to rediscover the form that made him one of Europe's most sought-after forwards.
Openda first made his name at Vitesse before enjoying a breakthrough spell with Lens. His performances in France earned him a move to RB Leipzig for around €40 million, where he formed an exciting attacking partnership with Benjamin Šeško.
The Belgian continued to score regularly in Germany, convincing Juventus to invest almost €50 million to bring him to Turin in 2025.
However, the transfer quickly turned into a disappointment.
Openda scored just two goals in 34 appearances across all competitions and started only six Serie A matches under head coach Luciano Spalletti.
Given the size of Juventus' investment, the striker is now widely regarded as one of the club's least successful recent signings.
A return to Ligue 1 offers him the opportunity to rebuild his confidence. Openda previously enjoyed the best season of his career with Lens, scoring 21 goals and providing four assists in 42 matches.
Juventus continue to reshape their attack this summer. Dušan Vlahović has left the club as a free agent, while highly rated teenager Jeff Ekhator arrived from Genoa in a deal worth around €17 million.
Despite that signing, Juventus are still expected to bring in another experienced striker. One of the leading candidates is Randal Kolo Muani, who impressed during his previous spell in Turin.
The French international scored 10 goals and registered three assists in 22 appearances for Juventus during the 2024/25 season, making him one of the club's top attacking targets once again.
