Brazil’s new coach Carlo Ancelotti will be joined by Kaka as his assistant, reuniting the AC Milan duo for the 2026 World Cup campaign.

Brazil is preparing to turn a new chapter under Carlo Ancelotti, and the first major reveal of his coaching staff has added extra star power to the project. Kaka, one of the country’s most beloved football icons and the last Brazilian to win the Ballon d’Or, has confirmed he will serve as Ancelotti’s assistant coach.

The appointment marks Kaka’s first high-profile role in football since retiring in 2017. The 92-cap international and 2002 World Cup winner made the announcement during an interview with Caze TV.

"If the team believes I can contribute in any way, I’m ready," Kaka said. "Since I stopped playing, I’ve taken time to prepare. I studied sports business at Harvard and completed my coaching badges with the Brazilian Football Confederation. I have experience with the national team, I’ve played in a World Cup. If the opportunity arises, I’d love to return."

The reunion between Ancelotti and Kaka will rekindle memories of their successful spell at AC Milan, where Kaka reached his peak in 2007 and earned the Ballon d'Or, the last Brazilian to do so.

Ancelotti will officially begin his tenure on May 26, and Brazil's first match under his guidance is scheduled for June 5 against Ecuador in the South American qualifiers.
