Kate Ferdinand returned to London for the first time since moving to Dubai with husband Rio Ferdinand, admitting she “felt like a tourist” while enjoying the city skyline and catching up with friends.
Kate Ferdinand has admitted she felt “like a tourist” during her first visit back to London since relocating to Dubai with her husband, former footballer Rio Ferdinand, and their blended family earlier this year.
The 34-year-old former TOWIE star moved abroad in August with Rio, 47, and their children — Cree (4), Shae (2), Lorenz (19), Tate (17) and Tia (14). The family traded London life for a fresh start in the UAE, but Kate returned to the capital this week, sharing how strange — yet refreshing — it felt to be back.
Posting a video from her Waterloo hotel on Instagram, Kate showed off sweeping views of Westminster and the London Eye while jokingly asking her followers for weekend recommendations. “What’s everyone’s weekend plans? What happens in London at the weekends? I feel like a tourist!” she wrote, adding a laughing emoji.
In the clip, Kate looked relaxed but admitted she was feeling the after-effects of a night out. “I look a bit tired, by the way. It’s been a tiring few days — back to back to back — trying to get everything in while I’m here. I had a couple of drinks last night with a friend,” she confessed, smiling.
She added warmly: “It just feels really, really good to be back. The sun is shining. I’ve missed it here — I’ve really missed it.”
Kate and Rio announced their move to Dubai in August, describing it as a long-awaited dream come true. “A new chapter, a fresh start — because if we don’t try, we’ll never know,” she wrote at the time. “We’ve talked about this for so long, and now it’s finally real… we’re here. We are making a new home in the place we met!”
The couple joins a growing list of celebrities who have swapped the UK for the sunny Middle East, drawn by the luxury lifestyle, tax advantages and year-round sunshine. Among them are Naomi Campbell and Apprentice star Luisa Zissman, who recently documented the costly process of flying her horses to her new Dubai home.
Kate’s London visit appears to be a short one — a mix of business, nostalgia and catching up with friends — before returning to her family’s glamorous new life abroad.
