Lee Andrews, husband of Katie Price, claims he is bidding to buy Chelsea, but his statements about wealth and credentials continue to raise doubts.

Lee Andrews, husband of Katie Price, has claimed he is preparing a bid to purchase a majority stake in Chelsea.

The businessman, known for bold statements about his wealth, says he is aiming to acquire 55 percent of the club.

Chelsea is currently owned by BlueCo, a consortium led by Todd Boehly, which bought the club in 2022 for £4.25 billion.

Bold claims about wealth

Andrews has frequently spoken about his financial strength since rising to public attention.

He claimed he purchased a £36 million property in Dubai in cash, although Katie Price later said she would not move there.

Speaking to The Sun, he outlined his plans.

"There's a bit of a verification process, and I'll only obtain 55 per cent, obviously, for quite a large amount. I can't tell you all the workings and inner parts of my wealth, but definitely, the money is there. And they have to accept, and they have to verify, but it will be going in. It sounds crazy, it sounds ambitious, but watch this space," he said.

Questions over credentials

During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, host Ed Balls raised doubts about Andrews’ background.

"His passport says that he's a doctor, it's reported that he has a PhD from Cambridge, but Cambridge University said they had never heard of him," Balls said.

Katie Price responded by clarifying the situation.

"He doesn't have a PhD from Cambridge, it's one in Spain. That's for him to say that he's got his PhD, but it's not from Cambridge, I don't know where that came from, he hasn't got a PhD from Cambridge at all, but he has got a PhD."

She also claimed her husband holds a diplomatic passport, stating:

"I've seen everything I need to see, on his diplomatic passport, it's Doctor Lee Andrews, on his normal passport, it's Wesley Lee Andrews."

Personal life under scrutiny

The couple married just two weeks after meeting, without informing Price’s family.

Reports suggest her mother was deeply affected by the sudden decision, while tensions have also been noted with her sister Sophie.

As speculation continues, Andrews’ claim of a Chelsea takeover remains unverified and under increasing scrutiny.
