Kevin De Bruyne shared how a friend helped him connect with Michele Lacroix through a tweet, leading to a love story that changed his life.
Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City’s midfield maestro, opened up about the quirky and heartfelt story of how he met his wife, Michele Lacroix. Following a difficult breakup in 2013, De Bruyne found love with Michele, and the couple now shares a beautiful family with three children: Mason, Rome, and Suri.
In a personal essay for The Players' Tribune, De Bruyne revealed that the love story began with a simple tweet while he was on loan at Werder Bremen. "I tweeted something about a match or whatever, and this pretty girl liked it," he wrote.
Encouraged by a friend to message Michele, De Bruyne was hesitant: "No, no, no. People don’t like me. They don’t get me. She won’t respond." But his friend took matters into his own hands, crafting and sending a direct message on De Bruyne’s behalf.
The move paid off. Michele responded, sparking a connection that would lead to marriage and a family. Reflecting on their journey, De Bruyne said: "She changed my life in so many ways—honestly, I don’t know what I would do without her."
