Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly approved a move to Napoli, with MLS clubs still chasing the outgoing Manchester City legend ahead of his summer departure.

Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly given his approval to a summer move to Napoli, putting interest from MLS clubs on hold as he plans for life after Manchester City.

According to Sky Sports, Napoli are already in advanced talks with the Belgian playmaker’s representatives after he announced his City exit. The Serie A leaders are said to be preparing a €7 million-a-year offer, plus a signing bonus, for the 33-year-old star.

Though the salary is lower than his current Manchester City earnings, favourable tax laws in Italy and the inclusion of bonuses make the deal attractive. Napoli are offering a two-year contract with an option for a third.

De Bruyne has long-standing ties to Naples, having regularly visited the city to see close friend Dries Mertens. Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport recently claimed that his wife Michelle has already started exploring housing options in the area, further fuelling speculation.

Meanwhile, clubs in Major League Soccer remain hopeful of luring the Belgian across the Atlantic. However, the decision to engage in negotiations with Napoli suggests De Bruyne favours staying in Europe—at least for now.

De Bruyne is currently focused on ending his City career on a high, with Pep Guardiola’s side set to face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final this Saturday at Wembley.
