Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp sent Curtis Jones a heartfelt message after the midfielder's 100th appearance for the club, discovered via Instagram.
Curtis Jones celebrated a significant milestone on Boxing Day, scoring a goal in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Leicester and marking his 100th appearance for the Reds. After the match, the midfielder received a special congratulatory message from Jürgen Klopp, the club’s former manager.
"When I got into the dressing room, I saw a text message from Jürgen congratulating me on my 100th game for Liverpool and wishing me to reach 500. I didn’t even know I’d hit that milestone, but after the game, it was confirmed, and I’m absolutely proud of it," Jones revealed.
Since stepping away from Anfield in the summer, Klopp has stayed active on social media, particularly Instagram, where Jones joked he likely spotted the statistic. "Klopp’s on Instagram now; he probably found out about this there," Jones quipped.
The midfielder also shared that Klopp remains in contact with Liverpool players: "He’s a great guy, and we still love him. He built the team we have today. Slot is continuing his work and doing a fantastic job."
Jürgen Klopp, who managed Liverpool for nine years, left Anfield this summer and will assume the role of head of football at Red Bull starting January 1, 2025.
