Liverpool has revealed its financial results for the 2023/24 season, reporting a significant loss of £57 million.
While the club has been performing well on the pitch, financial challenges from last season have impacted its overall balance sheet.
The biggest factors behind this deficit were missing out on the Champions League, which heavily affected revenue, and the high severance costs paid to Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff. The German manager, who ended his long tenure at Anfield, departed with his assistants, costing the club nearly £10 million in compensation.
A brighter financial outlook for Liverpool
Despite last season’s financial struggles, the current campaign looks far more promising. Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool sits at the top of the Premier League and is thriving in the Champions League. With growing revenues and sporting success, the club is expected to bounce back financially.
The improved European campaign and increasing commercial income should ensure that Liverpool’s finances are in much better shape by the end of this season.
