Ferencváros are weighing up two leading Conference League scorers with Slovenian backgrounds, as Franko Kovačević and former Maribor striker Nardin Mulahusejnović emerge as prime targets.
Ferencváros have intensified their search for a new striker, and Hungarian media report that the shortlist now features two familiar names — both with strong Slovenian connections and both among the leading scorers in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Alongside Franko Kovačević of Celje, Ferencváros are also monitoring Nardin Mulahusejnović, a former Maribor striker currently playing in Armenia.
Conference League numbers attract attention
What links the two candidates most clearly is their European output. Kovačević and Mulahusejnović are currently joint top scorers in the Conference League, each with five goals. Mulahusejnović has added four more goals in the Armenian league this season, further strengthening his profile.
Ferencváros see both players as realistic options to strengthen their attack as they pursue domestic dominance and European progress under head coach Robbie Keane.
Mulahusejnović’s Slovenian pathway
Mulahusejnović, now 27, signed for Noah last summer, committing to a contract that runs until 2028. Despite his relatively recent arrival, his performances have already drawn interest from several markets, including Poland, the United States and elsewhere in Europe.
His Slovenian background is well established. Mulahusejnović arrived in Slovenia via Maribor, who signed him from Zrinjski Mostar in 2018 for around €150,000. He also featured for Koper and Mura, gaining extensive experience in the Slovenian PrvaLiga.
Across 75 league appearances in Slovenia’s top flight, he scored 22 goals and provided five assists, establishing himself as a reliable if unspectacular forward before reigniting his career abroad.
