Kyle Walker is in line for a return to England’s starting XI as Thomas Tuchel prepares to make his managerial debut with the Three Lions on Friday night against Albania at Wembley Stadium.

Tuchel, appointed in October 2024, officially took over the England post in January but will manage his first match this week in a crucial World Cup qualifier. His team will face an Albanian side led by former Barcelona and Arsenal full-back Sylvinho.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Walker is set to start at right-back, beating out Reece James and Tino Livramento for the position. The 34-year-old, currently on loan at AC Milan from Manchester City, is expected to play a key role in a back-four setup, as Tuchel reportedly abandons the three-at-the-back system he previously favored at Chelsea.

Walker has endured a mixed season in Italy, but his international experience appears to have earned him Tuchel’s trust for the debut match. His selection signals a more pragmatic approach from the German coach, at least in the early stages of his reign.

After the clash with Albania, England will remain at Wembley to host Latvia on Monday in their second World Cup qualifier.
