French authorities are investigating an 18-year-old suspected of involvement in planned attacks and kidnappings, with Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe reportedly among the potential targets.

An extraordinary criminal investigation has caused shock in France after Kylian Mbappe was reportedly identified as one of the potential targets of an alleged kidnapping plot.
According to Le Parisien, investigators are examining a group suspected of planning a series of attacks against wealthy and high-profile individuals. The list of potential victims allegedly included businessmen, a rapper and the Real Madrid and France superstar.
At the centre of the investigation is an 18-year-old identified as Clement L., who is suspected of playing a leading role in organising or commissioning a number of alleged criminal acts.
The investigation concerns incidents allegedly taking place between April 11 and August 19 across several French cities. The teenager was reportedly identified during an investigation into an attack targeting a jewellery-store owner in Neuilly-sur-Seine in April.
Suspect placed in custody
Clement L. and an alleged accomplice were formally placed under investigation on August 21. The 18-year-old was remanded in custody and reportedly placed in solitary confinement, while the second suspect was released under judicial supervision.
According to the report, Mbappe was not the group's only alleged potential target. Investigators are also examining suspected plans involving other wealthy and well-known individuals, including a rapper and several business figures.
The age of the main suspect has added another striking element to the case. French investigators are now working to establish how targets were selected, what motivated the alleged plans and, crucially, how advanced or concrete any potential plot against Mbappe actually was.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations have not yet been tested at trial. For Mbappe, the case represents a disturbing development involving one of the world's most recognisable footballers.
