David Beckham will be knighted in the King's Birthday Honours, making Victoria "Lady Beckham", as long-running family tensions with Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz continue to cast a shadow.
David Beckham is set to be officially knighted in the upcoming King's Birthday Honours list, ending years of speculation and delayed recognition for the former football star. His new title of ‘Sir David Beckham’ means that his wife, Victoria Beckham, will now be known as ‘Lady Beckham’.
After years of being overlooked, the long-awaited honour follows reports of Beckham’s private frustration at the perceived snub. Leaked emails from past years revealed an alleged outburst where Beckham criticised the honours committee, but his team later called the emails "hacked, outdated and doctored to mislead".
A friend close to Beckham admitted the comments were made in a moment of anger and "didn’t reflect his true feelings". They added: "He does feel that he’s given so much to his country… but getting a knighthood isn’t why he does what he does."
While the knighthood is a high point for the Beckhams, ongoing tensions with son Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz remain unresolved. Sources say there's "still a lot of hurt to process,” after claims from Nicola’s circle painted David and Victoria in a negative light—claims Beckham insiders have branded “ludicrous and patently untrue.”
Insiders say that the recent breakup between Romeo Beckham and girlfriend Kim is unlikely to affect the ongoing family rift. "There’s no sign of reconciliation," one source said. "It’ll be interesting to see if Brooklyn and Nicola attempt to heal things now that Kim is out of the picture."
Despite the personal challenges, the Beckham legacy continues to grow—with David’s knighthood now placing him among footballing royalty alongside legends like Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.
