Sergio Ramos surprised fans by praising Lamine Yamal, calling him a current star and wishing him success—even in a Barcelona jersey—because of his impact on the Spanish national team.

Lamine Yamal may only be 17, but he's already considered one of the brightest stars in world football. Even Sergio Ramos, a Real Madrid legend and fierce rival of Barcelona, couldn’t help but praise the teenager’s rise.

Yamal exploded into the spotlight after debuting for Barcelona's first team at just 16. Since then, he’s become vital for both his club and Spain, leading the national team to the European Championship title last summer. He turns 18 next month and is already being mentioned as a possible Ballon d’Or contender alongside Ousmane Dembele.

Speaking to Spanish media, Ramos said: “For me, Lamine Yamal is not a future star, but a current one. He’s already breaking records and doing things unheard of at his age.”

Despite his long-standing ties to Real Madrid, Ramos went on to say: “He is already a key player with a strong character. I wish him all the best from the bottom of my heart, even in the Barcelona jersey, because whenever he plays for our national team, he will do it in a top-notch way.”

Sergio Ramos, who spent 16 years at Real Madrid before stints at PSG and Sevilla, now plays for Monterrey in Mexico. His gracious words for Yamal show just how much respect the young winger has earned—even from his fiercest rivals.
