Monaco will host Barcelona in the Champions League tonight, and it seems they have a special tactical plan in place to contain the young star, who is in excellent form this season.
French Champions League representatives Monaco will face off against Barcelona tonight. The Catalans are the favorites, and a key figure in their squad is 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. The skillful winger is in blistering form at the start of the new season, and Monaco is well aware of his threat. They’ve reportedly prepared a specific strategy to limit the young star.
Monaco has been preparing for this ‘Anti-Yamal’ plan throughout the week, and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds in tonight’s match.
One notable aspect of the plan involves shifting Vanderson to the left side, even though he typically plays on the right in defense. The Brazilian international will be tasked with marking Yamal, who has already contributed three goals and four assists in five appearances this season.
Barcelona, of course, boasts other top-tier players, and the entire team appears to be in excellent form. Under coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona has won all five of their matches in La Liga, scoring an impressive 17 goals. Monaco, meanwhile, has also started their season well, with three wins and a draw in their first four matches in Ligue 1.
The match will kick off at 9:00 p.m., alongside other exciting fixtures such as Atalanta vs. Arsenal, Atletico Madrid vs. Leipzig, and Sturm Graz vs. Brest.
