English presenter Laura Woods collapsed during a live broadcast before England–Ghana. Ian Wright reacted instantly, coverage was cut, and ITV later confirmed she is stable and recovering.
A dramatic moment unfolded on British television when Laura Woods, one of England’s best-known presenters, collapsed during ITV’s live coverage before the women’s friendly between England and Ghana. The incident caused immediate concern and forced producers to cut the broadcast.
Woods was speaking alongside analysts Ian Wright and Anita Asante during the pre-match show when she suddenly lost balance. As she began to fall forward, Wright reacted instantly, catching her and preventing a heavy fall — a moment clearly captured on camera.
The production team immediately cut the feed and switched to an extended commercial break. Viewers were left in suspense as the broadcast halted without explanation. When the programme eventually resumed, Woods was replaced by Katie Shanahan, who informed the audience that Woods had become unwell and wished her a swift recovery.
ITV later confirmed that Woods’ condition had stabilised, easing public concern. Several hours after the incident, she addressed the situation on Instagram, reassuring followers.
“God, that was a bit weird. Sorry for worrying everyone. I’m fine. The lovely paramedic said it was probably a virus — I just need some rest…” she wrote.
Woods added that she felt deeply embarrassed about collapsing on live television but expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their quick support.
“I’m really embarrassed it happened on camera, but a huge thank you to my colleagues at ITV who really took care of me… Once again, I’m sorry,” she added.
