Lautaro Martinez recently responded to criticism from an Inter fan on social media, defending his dedication to the club amid his current struggles on the field.
Martinez, who has been dealing with fatigue and suboptimal form, has faced challenges in recent matches, including a tough outing against Napoli, where he again failed to score. His only goal in recent months was against Venezia, raising questions about Simone Inzaghi's decisions regarding underused alternatives on the bench, such as Arnautovic, Taremi, and Correa.
A fan recently commented on Martinez’s Instagram post, questioning his focus on Inter while training with the national team. The fan wrote, “Remember the team you captain, which pays you well.” In response, Martinez reminded the fan of his commitment to Inter, saying, “Remember that I always give everything for Inter. Like in the year of the World Cup, when I played with an injured ankle. While others were preparing for the World Cup, I didn’t miss a single training session or game until the Champions League final. I played every match like that. Remember that before reminding me where my salary comes from.”
Martinez’s comments reference his dedication during the 2022/2023 season. Despite physical struggles in the first half of the season, he was a key figure in Argentina’s World Cup victory and led Inter to the Supercoppa Italiana, Coppa Italia, and a Champions League final, where they narrowly lost to Manchester City. Martinez ended that season with 28 goals in 57 matches for Inter, highlighting his significant contributions.
