Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon married Italian presenter Ilaria D'Amico last weekend, with many famous faces in attendance.
Monica Bellucci was the maid of honor, and Zvonimir and Leonarda Boban also graced the celebration.
The famous Gigi retired from football last year after an extraordinary 28-season career, ending it where it all began – at Parma. Buffon was adored by fans worldwide, but women were even more captivated by him. His private life often made headlines.
In 2011, Buffon married Czech beauty queen Alena Šeredová, but the marriage lasted only three years. Alena remained silent about the reasons for their split for a long time, but five years after the divorce, she finally shared the details with the media. Surprisingly, she wasn’t the first to find out about the breakup.
“I heard on the radio that he had left me. I wasn’t the last to find out, but the second to last—my father learned after me,” Alena revealed in a television interview for Rai Uno. Though overwhelmed with emotions at the time, she chose to rise above and not continue discussing the matter publicly.
One of the main reasons for her decision was their children, sons David Lee and Louis Thomas.
“I pulled myself together for the sake of our children. I knew I had to do everything to make them feel better and keep my head held high, but it wasn’t easy,” she admitted.
Shortly after the divorce, Gianluigi found new love with Italian TV presenter Ilaria D’Amico. His ex-wife, Alena, later revealed that Gigi had cheated on her with Ilaria.
Ilaria and Gigi got engaged in 2017, but they only recently tied the knot. The couple welcomed their son, Leopoldo Mattia, in 2016. Ilaria also has a son, Pietro, from her relationship with real estate agent Rocco Attanasio.
