The highly-rated Sarajevo defender is set to join Lens in a record-breaking transfer for Bosnian football.

Nidal Čelik, an 18-year-old central defender from Sarajevo, is on the verge of completing a historic transfer to Lens. According to Bosnian media, Čelik has left the capital to finalize his move to France, where he is expected to sign with the Ligue 1 club in the coming days.

The transfer, valued between €2.5 million and €2.8 million, will make Čelik the most expensive player in the history of the Bosnian league. Lens identified Čelik as the ideal replacement for Abdukodir Khusanov, who recently joined Manchester City in a €40 million deal.

Čelik made 30 appearances for Sarajevo after being promoted to the first team by Slovenian coach Simon Rožman.

He made his senior debut at just 17 years and four months old, quickly establishing himself as a key player. Even after Rožman’s departure, Čelik remained an integral part of the squad, which ultimately led to his high-profile move to France.
