L’Équipe named its Ligue 1 team of the year for 2025, with Paris Saint-Germain supplying ten players and Mason Greenwood the only non-PSG inclusion.
Paris Saint-Germain’s dominance of French football has rarely been illustrated more clearly than in L’Équipe’s selection of the best Ligue 1 team of 2025. The prestigious French sports daily named ten players from Paris Saint-Germain, with only one footballer from outside the Parisian powerhouse breaking into the lineup.
Almost a clean sweep for PSG
PSG’s sustained supremacy in domestic football continues to translate into individual recognition. The club have won 11 of the last 13 Ligue 1 titles and are currently on a run of four consecutive championships, making their heavy presence in the annual XI almost inevitable.
This year, PSG came within touching distance of a full sweep. The only player not representing Luis Enrique’s side in the team is Mason Greenwood, who earned his place after an outstanding individual campaign.

Luis Enrique was also named coach of the year, underlining PSG’s control not just on the pitch but also from the touchline.
From strong dominance to total control
For comparison, L’Équipe’s 2024 team of the year included seven PSG players, with representatives from Lille, Monaco and Brest filling the remaining spots. This time, however, the balance has tipped decisively in Paris’ favour, leaving virtually no room for outsiders.
The selection underlines a simple reality of modern French football: PSG are not just champions, but the defining force of the league, setting standards that few clubs are currently able to challenge.
