Barcelona is set to commemorate its 125th anniversary on November 29, and the event will be marked by the presence of none other than Lionel Messi, regarded by many as the greatest player in football history.
Spanish media have confirmed that Messi, whose relationship with club president Joan Laporta has been strained, will attend the celebration, putting his personal differences aside out of love for the club that was his home from the age of 13.
Reports indicate that “the Argentinian is willing to set aside personal disagreements to be part of this significant milestone for the club he adores.” The news of Messi’s participation was also confirmed by renowned Italian journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano.
Messi made his debut for Barcelona’s first team 20 years ago and became the club’s all-time leader in appearances, goals, assists, and trophies by the time he left for PSG in 2021. Over the course of 778 official matches, he scored 672 goals and provided 303 assists. His time at Barcelona saw him collect 35 major trophies, and when combined with his international achievements, Messi holds the record for the most decorated player in football history.
