Despite Croatia's 4-2 defeat to England at the World Cup, Dominik Livaković once again demonstrated why he remains one of the most respected goalkeepers in international football.
The Croatian international produced several outstanding saves throughout the match and prevented the scoreline from becoming even more painful for Zlatko Dalić's side.
One of the key moments came early in the game when Livaković stopped a penalty from Harry Kane. However, celebrations were short-lived as the goalkeeper was ruled to have moved off his line too early.
The penalty was ordered to be retaken, and Kane made no mistake with his second attempt.
Kane explains the penalty strategy
After the match, the England captain revealed that he had studied Livaković extensively before stepping up from the spot.
"When I watched the footage, I noticed that Livaković often steps off the line early. I knew that if I waited a little before the shot, there would be a chance for him to make that step," Kane explained.
"After the penalty was repeated, I changed my technique slightly, and it worked."
The striker's preparation paid off as England went on to secure an important opening victory in Group L.
Dinamo Zagreb waiting for Fenerbahçe response
While Livaković's performances continue to attract attention at the World Cup, his club future remains uncertain.
According to reports from Turkey, Dinamo Zagreb has submitted an official offer worth €3 million to Fenerbahçe in an attempt to secure the goalkeeper's permanent return.
However, the Turkish club has yet to respond and is reportedly prepared to wait until the end of the World Cup before making a decision.
Fenerbahçe believes Livaković's value could rise further if he continues delivering standout performances on football's biggest stage.
Dinamo fears growing competition
The longer negotiations remain unresolved, the greater the possibility that other European clubs could enter the race.
That scenario worries Dinamo, which views Livaković as a key figure for next season, especially in European competition.
The goalkeeper spent the second half of last season on loan at Dinamo and helped the club secure a domestic double.
Before that, he was part of Girona, although he did not make a competitive appearance for the Spanish side.
Livaković remains under contract with Fenerbahçe until 2028, but Dinamo is determined to bring back one of the greatest goalkeepers in the club's modern history.
Over two spells with the Zagreb club, Livaković has already made 310 appearances, winning eight Croatian league titles and three Croatian Cups.
