Liverpool are monitoring Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, amid uncertainty surrounding the Egyptian star’s future at Anfield.

Liverpool are increasingly assessing options for a future without Mohamed Salah, with Rodrygo of Real Madrid emerging as a serious candidate to refresh their attacking line.

British media report that the 25-year-old Brazilian winger is under close observation at Anfield as uncertainty grows over Salah’s long-term future. The Egyptian forward could depart next summer, prompting the club hierarchy to evaluate potential successors well in advance.

Form dip but lasting pedigree

Rodrygo has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing six assists. While those numbers fall short of his peak output, he remains a valued rotational figure in Madrid’s attacking structure.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Rodrygo reached his highest level, particularly during the 2023/24 campaign when his market valuation climbed to €110 million. Since then, his influence has diminished, and his estimated value has fallen to around €60 million.

Across six and a half seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, Rodrygo has featured in 296 matches, scoring 71 goals and delivering 57 assists. He arrived from Santos in 2019 and quickly formed a dynamic partnership with compatriot Vinícius Júnior.

Competition for his signature

Liverpool are not alone in monitoring his situation. Inter, Saudi side Al-Hilal, as well as Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, are all reportedly attentive to developments.

Despite the dip in form, Rodrygo’s tactical versatility and Champions League experience maintain his appeal at the highest level.

For Liverpool, the strategic question is not only about replacing goals but about preserving attacking balance should Salah, the club’s defining figure of the past decade, move on.

The coming transfer window could therefore shape a new chapter at Anfield — one potentially built around a Brazilian winger seeking to rediscover his best form in England.
