Liverpool is prepared to sell Darwin Núñez, their €85 million signing, as the striker fails to meet expectations. The club values him at €60 million.

Liverpool is reportedly ready to cut ties with Darwin Núñez, their €85 million investment, after the Uruguayan forward failed to deliver the consistency expected since his 2022 transfer. Despite flashes of brilliance, Núñez has struggled to meet the demands of Anfield, leaving the club open to offers around €60 million.

Núñez was signed in 2022 to fill the void left by Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino, with Liverpool paying €75 million upfront and up to €25 million in bonuses. Some of those bonuses have been triggered, bringing the total cost to €85 million. However, Núñez’s performances have not justified the hefty price tag.

In his first season, Núñez scored nine Premier League goals, followed by 11 in his second. This season, despite Liverpool leading the league, he has netted just two goals in 15 league appearances. Across all competitions, he has managed four goals and three assists in 24 matches, far below the club’s expectations.

According to English media, Liverpool is willing to part ways with Núñez for €60 million, taking a significant loss but eager to reinvest in a more reliable attacking option. While comparisons to Luis Suárez were inevitable, Núñez has struggled to replicate the form of his compatriot and fallen short of becoming the elite scorer Liverpool hoped for.
