Croatian U-21 player Lovro Zvonarek continues his scoring streak with Sturm Graz, netting his second goal in as many matches in the Austrian Cup.
Sturm Graz, Austria's reigning champions, have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Austrian Cup with a 2-1 victory over Blau Weiss Linz. Lovro Zvonarek, Croatia’s U-21 international, opened the scoring in the 24th minute, marking his second goal of the season for Sturm, where he is currently on loan. His first goal came just days earlier in a league win against LASK (2-1).
Following Zvonarek’s opener, Yardimci extended Sturm’s lead to 2-0, though Mitrović later reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 58th minute. This phase of the competition also saw a surprise upset, as Vienna’s Rapid was eliminated by second-division side Stripfing, who claimed a 2-1 win. Croatian striker Dion Drena Beljo entered for Rapid in the 84th minute but couldn’t influence the outcome. Salzburg also progressed, defeating WSG Tirol 3-0 in front of their home fans.
