Luis Enrique dismissed criticism after PSG’s 5:4 clash with Bayern, called it his toughest test, and confirmed Hakimi will miss the return leg.
Luis Enrique does not accept the criticism after the spectacular PSG vs Bayern match and made that clear after a detailed five-hour analysis. While most fans enjoyed the 5:4 thriller in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal, some critics focused on defensive mistakes.
The PSG coach has no patience for that narrative. He believes the match was extremely demanding and played at the highest level.
“These are worthless views and not every opinion deserves respect,” he said.
Enrique drew one strong conclusion from his analysis.
Bayern Munich are the toughest opponents he has faced since arriving in Paris. He also rejected the idea that both teams defended poorly.
He sees things differently.
According to him, PSG, Bayern, and Arsenal have the best defensive structures in world football, despite the high number of goals in the first match.
There is also bad news ahead of the return leg.
Achraf Hakimi is injured and will miss the match in Germany. This is a major blow for PSG, as he is one of the key players in a team that is defending the Champions League title.
Earlier in the season, he was replaced by Warren Zaïre-Emery, a natural midfielder who adapted to the right-back role.
The decisive clash is approaching.
Bayern and PSG will meet again on Wednesday evening, but before that, the Parisians will play a Ligue 1 match against Lorient.
After everything seen in Paris, expectations for the return leg are even higher.
