Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye have missed another PSG matchday squad as Liverpool continues to monitor both attackers before the transfer deadline.

Liverpool have received another encouraging signal in their search for a new attacker after Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s plans again.
Neither winger featured in Luis Enrique’s matchday squad for PSG’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes. Their latest absence has increased speculation over possible departures before the transfer window closes.
Barcola has remained one of Liverpool’s leading targets throughout the summer. Talks surrounding the 23-year-old France international have continued for several weeks, but PSG’s high valuation has prevented an agreement.
The French champions reportedly value Barcola at around £145 million. Liverpool admire the winger but have also considered younger and less expensive alternatives.
Ibrahim Mbaye represents one of those options. The 18-year-old Senegal international is among PSG’s brightest academy products and operates on either side of the attack.
Reports in England claim Liverpool have already discussed personal terms with Mbaye. No formal agreement between the two clubs has been announced.
Barcola and Mbaye also failed to appear on the official team sheet for the Trophée des Champions against Lens. They travelled with PSG but watched the match from the stands after Luis Enrique selected other attacking options.
The Spanish coach declined to discuss their individual futures after the game. He later explained the type of commitment he expects from every member of his squad.
“We are a young and ambitious team,” Luis Enrique said. “It is important for us to make changes and find players who enjoy our style and love playing for PSG.”
“When a player does not want to come here, or does not have a smile on his face about being here, it is better to find another solution.”
Luis Enrique did not directly name Barcola or Mbaye when making the statement. Its timing still attracted attention because both attackers face strong competition for minutes in Paris.
Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué already occupy important positions in PSG’s attack. The arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco has increased the competition.
PSG begin their latest title defence after winning five consecutive French championships and a record 14 league titles overall.
Liverpool will continue to follow developments in Paris closely. Barcola remains their preferred target, while Mbaye offers a younger alternative if PSG’s financial demands prevent a deal for the France international.
