Serbian forward Luka Jović has faced a major career blow as he was left out of Milan’s squad for the upcoming UEFA competitions, signaling that the club no longer considers him part of their plans.
Formerly regarded as one of Europe’s most promising strikers, Luka Jović has hit a new low in his career after Milan omitted him from their registered squad for this season’s UEFA tournaments. Once seen as a rising star during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Madrid, Jović has struggled to establish himself, and now his future at Milan looks uncertain.
Milan coach Paulo Fonseca recently submitted the final list of players for the Champions League, and Jović's name was missing from both the A and B squads. The 26-year-old Serbian is the only senior player left out of the list, suggesting that the club no longer sees him as part of their future plans.
The arrival of Tammy Abraham appears to have pushed Jović further down the pecking order. Despite being handed the number 9 shirt earlier in the summer and hopes for a breakout season, he now finds himself behind Álvaro Morata, Noah Okafor, and Abraham in the striker hierarchy.
In recent days, rumors have circulated in Serbian media about a possible return to Crvena zvezda for Jović, though time is running out for a deal to be completed. Interestingly, his former Milan teammate Rade Krunić recently made the move to Zvezda, fueling speculation that Jović could follow.
In a surprising turn of events, Jović even signed a new contract with Milan this summer, took part in promotional photoshoots in the club’s Champions League kit, and was expected to play a key role. The reasons for his sudden fall from favor remain unclear.
