After collecting the Laureus Team of the Year award, Luka Modrić said Real Madrid demands excellence and believes last season’s achievements fully justify the club’s latest global recognition.
Luka Modrić represented Real Madrid at the Laureus Awards gala, where the club was honoured as the World Team of the Year. Alongside Dani Carvajal, the veteran midfielder collected the trophy and reflected on the high standards required at the club.
Real Madrid's 2023–24 campaign was celebrated as one of near-perfection, with Modrić highlighting how the team displayed excellence on the pitch and brought home multiple trophies. The award comes despite the team facing challenges this season, even after the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.
“We want to thank the Laureus organizers on behalf of Real Madrid,” said Modrić. “Our team is proud to collect this prestigious award. We had a great season, winning many trophies and displaying excellence on the pitch.”
The Croatian star emphasized the relentless expectations at the club, saying: “Real Madrid always pushes you to the highest levels, to do your best, as we demonstrated last season. We deserve to win this award.”
