Luka Modrić has completed his first major transfer as Swansea co-owner, marking the start of a new chapter in his football career.
A new era has officially begun for Luka Modrić, as the Croatian legend embarks on his post-playing journey with a €6 million transfer at Swansea.
With Real Madrid potentially entering Modrić’s final weeks as a player—especially if the season ends trophyless—rumours of his exit have been growing. While many speculated he would leave after the Club World Cup, Modrić has already started shaping his future off the pitch.
Recently confirmed as one of Swansea’s co-owners, Modrić has already played a direct role in signing promising winger Zeidane Inoussa from Hacken in a deal reportedly worth €6 million.
Inoussa revealed that Modrić personally called him to discuss the transfer. “I think he’s the best midfielder in history, at least the best I’ve ever seen,” the Swedish winger told reporters. “I actually spoke to him on the phone. It was great. It meant a lot to me to hear his perspective on the project and why I should sign for them.”
Inoussa added: “That was a big deal for me. He mostly talked about the project, his views on the club and the future. I doubt he watched me play, but he said he’d heard positive things about me.”
It’s already clear that Modrić intends to stay in football in a managerial or directorial role once he retires from playing. His involvement in Inoussa’s signing signals a hands-on approach to shaping Swansea’s future. His status as one of football’s all-time greats could prove vital in attracting talent to the club.
