Inter Miami's MLS victory over CF Montréal was overshadowed by a terrifying injury to Germán Berterame, who was taken off the pitch by ambulance after a heavy collision.

Inter Miami's 1-0 victory over CF Montréal was overshadowed by a frightening incident that left players from both teams visibly shaken.
In the 69th minute, striker Germán Berterame challenged for a high cross before colliding violently with an opponent in mid-air. The forward landed heavily on either his head or upper back and immediately remained motionless on the pitch.
The scenes were deeply concerning as teammates and opponents quickly signalled for medical staff to enter the field. Berterame appeared to suffer convulsions while lying on the ground, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The match was halted for around ten minutes while doctors treated the player on the pitch. In the 79th minute, Berterame was carefully placed into an ambulance and transported to hospital for further examinations.
Despite the distressing scenes, the match eventually resumed, with Luis Suárez scoring the only goal from the penalty spot in the 80th minute to secure all three points for Inter Miami.
The experienced Uruguayan dedicated the goal to his injured teammate by lifting Berterame's shirt during his celebration, a gesture that drew applause from supporters and players alike.
After the match, coach Guillermo Hoyos offered encouraging news, confirming that Berterame was conscious following the collision. Although the impact looked extremely serious, the initial signs suggested the striker had avoided the worst.
The victory was Inter Miami's sixth consecutive MLS win, extending the club's impressive run of form. Their next league fixture is scheduled for 2 August against the Columbus Crew, with the team now hoping for positive medical updates on Berterame's condition.
