Real Madrid could target Joško Gvardiol this summer as Manchester City faces uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola and ongoing legal issues.

Real Madrid are once again searching for defensive reinforcements, and this summer a major market opportunity could suddenly appear.

According to reports from Spain, the player attracting growing attention at the Santiago Bernabeu is Joško Gvardiol.

The Croatian international joined Manchester City from RB Leipzig in August 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the strongest defenders in the Premier League.

At only 24 years old, Gvardiol is already considered one of Europe’s elite defenders and is entering the prime years of his career.

Normally, signing a player of that profile from Manchester City would seem almost impossible.

But the situation around the English champions is becoming increasingly unstable.

Questions continue surrounding the club’s ongoing 115 charges case, while uncertainty also remains over the future of coach Pep Guardiola.

Reports emerging from England today claim Guardiola is seriously considering leaving Manchester City at the end of the current season.

That uncertainty has reportedly created concern among several players and their representatives, including people close to Gvardiol.

Real Madrid are closely monitoring the situation.

The Spanish giants traditionally avoid paying massive transfer fees for defenders and often prefer players nearing the end of their contracts. However, president Florentino Perez has also shown in the past that he will move aggressively when a rare market opportunity appears.

Inside Spain, many believe Gvardiol represents exactly that kind of opportunity.

Real Madrid needs long-term stability in central defense, especially after recurring injury problems and inconsistent performances in recent seasons.

Gvardiol’s combination of athleticism, technical quality, versatility, and experience at the highest level makes him an extremely attractive target for the club’s future project.

For now, Manchester City are not actively looking to sell the Croatian defender.

But if uncertainty around Guardiola and the club’s wider situation continues growing, Real Madrid may sense a rare chance to strike.
