Manchester City have continued their strategy of investing in elite young talent by completing the signing of Jeremy Monga from Leicester City.

The Premier League runners-up confirmed that the 17-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2031, securing one of England's brightest prospects for the long term.

According to reports, the deal is worth around £10 million (€12 million), including bonuses. For a club of Manchester City's financial strength, the fee represents a relatively small investment for a player widely regarded as one of the country's biggest young talents.

Monga admitted the decision was an easy one once he learned of City's interest.

"When I found out that Manchester City were interested in me, I knew straight away that it was the right decision. For any young player, coming to a club like this is a dream come true," the teenager said after signing his contract.

The England Under-19 international made his senior debut for Leicester last season and became the second-youngest player in Premier League history to appear in the competition.

Although he scored once in 37 first-team appearances, Monga is valued as much for his versatility as his talent. Naturally an attacking midfielder, he has also impressed in several positions across the front line.

For Leicester, losing another academy gem is a significant setback as the club continues its rebuilding process. For Manchester City, it is another statement that the club is planning well beyond the present.

If Monga develops as expected, the transfer fee could soon look like one of the bargains of the summer window, with City hoping they have secured another future star before his value explodes.
