Manchester City eyes Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala as the long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, whose future at the Etihad appears uncertain.

Manchester City has reportedly identified Jamal Musiala as the ideal successor to Kevin De Bruyne, according to the British outlet CaughtOffside. The 21-year-old Bayern Munich star has emerged as the top target for Pep Guardiola's side ahead of the summer transfer window.

With his contract set to expire in 2025, De Bruyne has struggled with injuries this season, playing a limited role at City. The Belgian playmaker, widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest-ever players, has managed just 808 minutes of game time, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists. In contrast, Musiala has shone at Bayern, delivering 14 goals and 6 assists in 1,609 minutes of play.

Musiala, whose contract with Bayern runs until 2026, is in the midst of renewal talks with the German club. However, as the player himself has stated, no agreement has been finalized:

"Discussions are ongoing. I can’t say anything more at the moment. The decision isn’t imminent," Musiala recently revealed.

City had also considered Florian Wirtz, but the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s contract renewal has redirected the club’s focus to Musiala.

As Pep Guardiola’s squad faces its biggest crisis during his tenure, the need for a creative midfield spark has never been more apparent. The arrival of Musiala could not only fill the void left by De Bruyne but also inject youthful energy into a team looking to bounce back.
