Former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is reportedly close to joining Palmeiras on a free transfer and beginning a completely new chapter in Brazil.

Jadon Sancho could be about to make one of the most unexpected moves of the summer. The former Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United star is reportedly close to joining Brazilian giants Palmeiras.
According to Marca and reports in England and Spain, the 26-year-old has reached an agreement in principle on a two-year contract with an option for another season. Sancho is available as a free agent after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season.
If the transfer is completed, it will mark the first time in Sancho's senior career that he has played outside European football.
From €85m superstar to free agent
Only a few years ago, Sancho was regarded as one of Europe's most exciting young attackers. After leaving Manchester City's academy, he exploded at Borussia Dortmund and became one of the Bundesliga's biggest stars.
Manchester United eventually paid around €85m to sign him in 2021, but Sancho was never able to reproduce his Dortmund form consistently at Old Trafford.
Problems with form and his position within the squad eventually led to several loan spells. He returned to Dortmund before later representing Chelsea and Aston Villa, but neither move provided the permanent career revival he was searching for.
His association with Manchester United finally ended this summer, leaving Sancho free to choose his next club. At only 26, he now appears ready to exchange European football for a fresh start in Brazil.
European stars increasingly heading to Brazil
Sancho would join a growing collection of familiar European football names in Brazil. Fellow Englishman Jesse Lingard recently joined Corinthians, where Memphis Depay also plays, while Gremio have Martin Braithwaite and Filip Krovinović, and Flamengo feature former Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Palmeiras could now add one of the most surprising names of all. Five years after Manchester United paid €85m for one of England's brightest talents, Sancho is preparing to restart his career on the other side of the Atlantic.
