Manchester United is preparing formal talks with Michael Carrick after his successful interim spell and Benjamin Sesko’s strong form.
Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make Michael Carrick their permanent manager after his impressive impact during the final stage of the season.
According to reports from Sky Sports and several English outlets, United’s leadership has now identified Carrick as the leading candidate to guide the club into next season.
The former United midfielder stepped in after the disappointing spell under Ruben Amorim and quickly transformed the atmosphere and performances at Old Trafford.
Under Carrick, Manchester United climbed back among the strongest teams in the Premier League and secured qualification for the Champions League.
Despite his strong results, the club’s hierarchy reportedly chose not to rush into a decision and instead waited until the end of the campaign before moving forward with formal discussions.
Talks between Carrick and the club are expected to begin officially after United’s final league match of the season against Brighton.
Several former Manchester United players and club legends have publicly backed Carrick during recent weeks.
Many were particularly impressed by the chemistry and unity he restored inside the dressing room after a difficult period earlier in the season.
One player who especially benefited from Carrick’s arrival was Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko.
The talented forward enjoyed a major breakthrough under the interim coach and finished the Premier League season with 11 goals.
Sesko’s rapid development has become one of the strongest arguments in favor of giving Carrick the job permanently.
The Englishman’s record has also strengthened his case significantly.
Across 15 matches in charge, Carrick won 10 games, drew three, and lost only twice.
United reportedly considered several alternative candidates during the process, but Carrick gradually convinced decision-makers with both his tactical work and the team’s visible improvement on the pitch.
If the appointment becomes official, Carrick would complete a remarkable rise from former player to permanent manager of one of the biggest clubs in world football.
For Sesko and several other young players inside the squad, the decision could also provide important stability ahead of next season’s return to Champions League football.
