Bruno Fernandes continues to shine despite Manchester United’s struggles, reaching 50 Premier League assists and putting himself alongside Cantona, Scholes, Beckham, Rooney, and Giggs in club history.
Bruno Fernandes would likely be considered one of the world’s best players today if he hadn’t spent his prime years at Manchester United—a club currently going through one of its worst periods in modern history. Despite this, the Portuguese captain remains among the top performers in the Premier League every season.
When it comes to chance creation, Fernandes has been without competition in recent years. If his teammates had been more clinical, United’s fortunes could have been very different.
Without Bruno, it's hard to imagine where Manchester United would be. This season alone, he has contributed 16 goals and 15 assists across all competitions—numbers that put him far ahead of his teammates.
In the 3-0 victory over Leicester City, Fernandes delivered a true captain’s performance, scoring once and providing two assists. In doing so, he reached a historic milestone, becoming only the sixth player in club history to register 50 Premier League assists.
Only Eric Cantona, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, and Ryan Giggs had achieved this feat before him—all legends of Manchester United.
One can only wonder how many more assists Fernandes would have had if he played in a team that consistently scores goals, wins points, and competes for major trophies.
