Leipzig has sacked coach Marco Rose after a poor run of results, with Benjamin Šeško now expected to step up under a new manager.

RB Leipzig have parted ways with head coach Marco Rose following a damaging defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach, a decision that signals a fresh chapter for the club and new pressure on rising stars like Benjamin Šeško.

The 2-0 loss in Gladbach, where Šeško started on the bench, proved to be the final straw. Leipzig’s management, frustrated by inconsistent Bundesliga form and a lacklustre Champions League campaign, decided to terminate Rose’s contract, which was valid through the end of next season.

While Rose helped develop several young players, internal sources suggest his excessive experimentation and tactical shifts ultimately backfired. Leipzig currently sit outside the Champions League spots, a scenario deemed unacceptable by the club’s ambitious hierarchy.

Benjamin Šeško, who has been in and out of the starting lineup, will now need to reassert himself as a key figure under the incoming manager. The 20-year-old Slovenian has scored key goals this season but has yet to fully secure a consistent starting role.

Rose, who previously managed Dortmund, Gladbach, and Salzburg, had been in charge of Leipzig since 2022. His departure also includes his coaching staff, as the club begins its search for a new direction—one that will aim to reignite their top-four push and restore confidence in the dressing room.
