Legendary Dutch striker Marco Van Basten is questioning why his compatriot Erik ten Hag was so eager to bring in a player who merely "walks around the pitch."
Manchester United's defeat to Tottenham has deepened doubts surrounding Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, who has struggled to prove that he is the right manager for the demanding task of transforming Manchester United into a team capable of competing at the top of English football once again.
Instead of moving closer to the top, United seems to be drifting further away, and the criticism of Ten Hag is also coming from his homeland, where the legendary Marco Van Basten has specifically targeted the performance of midfielder Manuel Ugarte, a player Ten Hag himself wanted to bring to United.
"I watch United and I see this new player just walking around the pitch. This is Manuel Ugarte, a player they paid 50 million euros for! How can this guy just walk around the field? It’s idiotic how Ten Hag throws money on players who don’t even have the quality," said the former world-class striker on Ziggo Sport.
