Maribor is set to sign Tunisian international Omar Rekik, a former Arsenal defender, on loan from Hull City, boosting their foreign player quota.
According to Romanian media, Dinamo Bucharest was interested in signing Omar Rekik, but it appears the talented Tunisian international will be heading to Maribor instead. The Ljudski vrt side will soon welcome Rekik, currently without a club after his last stint with Arsenal.
While Hull City has reportedly shown interest in Rekik, the defender will first spend time at Maribor, likely with the aim of eventually moving to the Championship club in the future.
At just 22 years old, Rekik has already had a nomadic career, having played for clubs such as Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV, Marseille, Hertha Berlin, Arsenal, Sparta Rotterdam, Wigan, and Servette. Born in the Netherlands, Rekik has also earned three caps for the Tunisian national team.
