LASK coach Markus Schopp shared plenty of praise for Olimpija and Slovenian football ahead of tonight’s match in Ljubljana.
The Austrian club arrives in Ljubljana in good form, having gone unbeaten in six consecutive matches. Much of this success is credited to Markus Schopp, who took over as head coach in September after an urgent managerial change following a poor start to the season.
Schopp is a well-known name in Austria, having had a successful playing career with clubs such as Sturm Graz, Salzburg, Hamburg, and Brescia, and earning 56 caps for the Austrian national team over a ten-year span.
Schopp, who had a brief managerial stint with Barnsley in England, warns that Olimpija is a very good team.
“We face a strong team that plays high-quality football. Still, we aim to return home with three points,” said the Graz-born coach, who holds Slovenian football in high regard.
“I’m familiar with the Slovenian league. Slovenians have always produced very good footballers,” added Schopp.
