Inter Milan did not shine but capitalized perfectly on Saturday's defeat of league leaders Napoli.
Inter hosted Venezia on Sunday evening in Serie A and, despite struggles, secured three crucial points that mattered far more than aesthetics.
Inter's only goal came in the second half when Lautaro Martinez, the talented Argentine forward, found the net, breaking an unexpected dry spell that dated back to February—an astonishing 249 days without scoring at San Siro.
Martinez had no such difficulties on the road, scoring five goals in his last six away matches. With this goal, he also became Inter's all-time top foreign scorer, bringing his total to 134 goals.
With this victory, Inter closed the gap to just one point behind Napoli.
