Matthijs de Ligt confirms he agreed to join Manchester United in June, eagerly awaiting the deal's completion as he now strengthens the defense ahead of the new season.
Manchester United has finally completed the much-anticipated transfers of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, with the Dutch defender revealing that he had agreed to terms with the club as early as June.
However, to finalize these deals, the Old Trafford team had to first complete the exit transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There are also plans to sell Jadon Sancho. Despite the delays, the most important outcome is that De Ligt has joined just in time for the start of the season, bolstering the central defense, especially crucial following the injury to Lenny Joor.
"I’m really excited. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I agreed to terms with Manchester United back in June. Throughout the entire summer break, I was just waiting for the message that the deal was done. And finally, it is. I can’t wait to get started," said De Ligt.
In addition to Mazraoui and De Ligt, United has also signed the previously mentioned Lenny Joor and striker Joshua Zirkzee.
