Arsenal prodigy Max Dowman has completed his GCSEs and thanked Brentwood School as he leaves full-time education to focus on professional football.

Max Dowman has thanked Brentwood School after receiving his GCSE results and bringing his full-time education to an early end.
The Arsenal winger missed the final week of training last season to complete his exams while also establishing himself in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.
Dowman later became the youngest player to start a Premier League match and the youngest to receive a top-flight winners’ medal, achieving the feat at 16 years and 144 days.
In March, he added another record by becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history with a memorable goal against Everton.
His GCSE grades have not been made public, but Brentwood School shared a photograph of Dowman proudly holding the envelope containing his results.
In its review of the GCSE results, the school praised the youngster’s achievements in education and football.
“After a year in which he broke too many records to list here, including becoming the youngest ever Premier League goalscorer, Max D completed his GCSEs as he moved firmly into the world of professional football at the highest level with Arsenal FC,” the school wrote.
Dowman also published a farewell message in which he thanked the school and its staff for supporting his football ambitions.
“I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Brentwood School for everything they have done for me during my time here,” he said.
“Although my journey at the school is ending earlier than expected as I pursue my football career, I will always be incredibly grateful for the support the school and staff have given me. The lessons I have learned, both on and off the pitch, will stay with me as I take the next step in my journey.”
The Arsenal youngster reserved special praise for three members of staff who played an important role during his time at Brentwood.
“A special thank you to Mrs Crowley, Mr Gamester and Miss Antonello for their kindness, support and encouragement throughout my time at Brentwood,” Dowman added.
“I will always be grateful for the difference they made to my experience here. I leave with some fantastic memories and friendships which I will always cherish.”
“I am excited about the future, but I will always look back on my time at Brentwood with great pride and gratitude.”
Dowman is expected to join Arsenal’s squad when the reigning champions begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry City on Friday night.
Despite his growing role in Arteta’s team, his age still creates an unusual restriction. Premier League safeguarding rules require every player under the age of 18 to change in a separate room during training sessions and matches.
Dowman is allowed to enter the senior dressing room for team talks, but he must continue changing separately until he turns 18 near the end of 2027.
His school days have ended, but Premier League rules mean Dowman must wait a little longer before fully joining his teammates inside Arsenal’s dressing room.
