Emmanuel Petit slammed Kylian Mbappé after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit, claiming his presence disrupted team balance and dressing room unity.
Real Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League continues to trigger strong reactions.
After the defeat to Bayern Munich, former France international Emmanuel Petit delivered sharp criticism of Kylian Mbappé, placing him at the center of the controversy.
Real Madrid were knocked out in the quarter-finals with a 4-6 aggregate defeat, conceding two late goals at the Allianz Arena. The situation worsened after the sending-off of Eduardo Camavinga.
Mbappé has since become one of the main talking points.
Petit, now working as a pundit for RMC, believes the arrival of the French star has disrupted the team’s internal balance.
"Mbappé is not the only one to blame, but his arrival in the Real Madrid dressing room has brought selfishness. It is a fiasco," he said.
He also pointed to developments at Paris Saint-Germain after Mbappé’s departure.
"Time is not on their side. PSG are now playing like a real team, everyone is connected and breathing as one," he added.
According to Petit, the team’s performances declined after Mbappé returned to the starting line-up following injury.
He believes Real Madrid had shown more stability before that moment and failed to maintain that level afterward.
Still, he did not ignore other key factors.
Petit highlighted Camavinga’s red card as a decisive turning point in the tie.
"If we have to blame anyone, it's Camavinga. His foul was catastrophic. At that moment in the game, the red card was too harsh, but referee Slavko Vinčić was just following the rules," he explained.
The debate around Mbappé is now growing.
And after this European exit, questions about team chemistry and leadership at Real Madrid are becoming louder.
