Kylian Mbappe faces backlash after a yacht trip during injury recovery, with fans and teammates questioning his focus as Real Madrid’s season slips away.
Real Madrid are facing growing tension after Kylian Mbappe was spotted on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia while recovering from injury.
The timing of the trip has caused frustration among fans and, according to reports from Spanish media, also inside the dressing room.
Real Madrid are dealing with a difficult end to the season, with Barcelona holding a huge lead at the top of La Liga. The club now faces the prospect of finishing without a major trophy, which has placed every detail under scrutiny.
Supporters reacted quickly on social media. Many criticized Mbappe’s decision, questioning his commitment during a crucial phase. Some of the most vocal fans even called for him to leave the club.
According to reports in Spain and France, the situation inside the squad is also tense. Several teammates are said to be disappointed, believing the trip creates distance within the group and gives the impression that the player is not fully focused on shared objectives.
Head coach Alvaro Arbeloa defended his player and pointed to the club’s medical process.
"Everything related to the recovery of injured players is supervised by the medical staff. They decide when a player must be available," he said. "In his free time, each player chooses what to do."
Despite that explanation, criticism has continued. According to French outlet L’Equipe, there is notable dissatisfaction within the club regarding how Mbappe manages his image and private life. Some believe he lacks discretion and shows excessive individualism.
On the pitch, his numbers remain strong. Mbappe has scored 41 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions this season, maintaining an average of one goal per match.
However, his recent form in La Liga has dropped. Since the start of February, he has scored only one goal, combining injury issues with a dip in performance.
The situation places Mbappe at a critical point in his career, as he is also expected to take on a leading role for Argentina after the eventual departure of Lionel Messi.
