Mikel Arteta hails Martin Odegaard’s influence on Arsenal ahead of the Sporting clash, calling him a unique player who connects the team’s game and embodies leadership.
Mikel Arteta has expressed his relief at having Martin Odegaard back in the lineup, emphasizing the Norwegian midfielder’s vital role in Arsenal’s success. Odegaard, who missed two months due to an ankle injury, was sorely missed, with the Gunners struggling to replicate their usual cohesion in his absence.
Ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League match against Sporting, Arteta explained why Odegaard is a central figure in the team’s structure:
"Odegaard is a different kind of player and unique within our team. His energy, understanding of the game, and the trust he earns from his teammates make Arsenal a completely different side. He’s the player who connects everything," said Arteta.
The manager also praised Odegaard’s leadership qualities: "His body language and the way he organizes our attack are key reasons why he’s such an important member of this team and why he wears the captain’s armband."
With Odegaard back at full fitness, Arsenal looks to reclaim their best form as they push forward in their Champions League campaign.
